Save Our Mansion

WE NEED YOUR HELP IN RAISING $340,000 TO SAVE OUR REGISTERED HISTORIC SITE, HOME OF THE LA CONNER QUILT & TEXTILE MUSEUM!  PLEASE JOIN THE HUNDREDS OF DONORS WHO HAVE BROUGHT US OVER $200,000 CLOSER TO SAVING AND PRESERVING THIS MANSION.

MAKE YOUR DONATION HERE

The photo at right shows what our home, the 1891 Historic Gaches Mansion, could look like with repairs, improvements, and fresh paint (just one possible paint scheme).  The Board of Directors has kicked off a Capital Campaign to raise the $340,000 needed for restoration, and is also seeking granting and foundation partners.  This project is Phase II of a restoration that started in 2007 with a 3:1 Heritage Capital Funds Project matching grant awarded by the Washington State Historical Preservation Society.

UPDATE:  As of December 15, 2010, we have raised over $200,000 from supporters just like you–because of your generosity, we will be able to resume restoration work this spring.   Check back here for our next update in January 2011 . . .

WHAT YOUR DONATION WILL HELP ACCOMPLISH:

  • Repair/replacement of rotting siding and damaged roofing
  • Repair and restoration of architectural details that have suffered from weathering
  • Upgrade gutter/downspout system
  • Repair of existing windows where possible, replacement of those beyond repair
  • Priming and detailed painting of exterior using three historic colors
  • Installation of fire-sprinkling system throughout five levels of mansion
  • Repairs in third-floor storage space, allowing us to increase our permanent collection
  • Repair and refinishing of original fir flooring on first level
  • Replacement of existing wallpaper, drapes, and specific interior details with period- appropriate Victorian decor
